Plan my renewal costs

Your next payment is a date to check.

Manual planner · GBP including VAT

Cheapest domain names are not always the cheapest to keep. Copy each current annual renewal quote and next payment date from your provider. An introductory registration price will not tell you the ongoing cost.

Add separately billed annual extras on their own lines. Count a bundled charge once. Prepaid and multi-year contracts are outside this annual model; ask your provider for a breakdown.

Your entries stay in this page until you refresh or leave. No reminders are scheduled. How this tool works

Before a name leaves
your budget.

A domain with no website can still be doing a job. Use this review before changing its renewal settings.

A “Review this cost” tick in the planner keeps the charge in your total. It is a prompt to investigate, not a saving.

  1. Check the quiet dependencies.

Look for mailboxes, email forwarding, account recovery addresses, website forwarding, DNS records and connected services. Check whether you still need the name for your business or brand.

  2. Move what you need. Test it.

Update accounts that use an old email address. Move necessary email or services and test the replacements before changing renewal settings. Old addresses may still receive password-reset messages.

  3. Confirm what the charge covers.

Check the provider's contract and renewal settings. A paid extra may protect a service you still use. Dropping a domain does not necessarily cancel a separately billed service.

Read the bill.
Keep the useful bits.

The best cost comparison starts with what you will pay next and what you need to keep working.

Payment date and expiry date are different.

Auto-renewal billing can happen before the domain expires. Use the next charge date shown in your provider account, rather than guessing from the expiry date. If you cannot find it, leave it blank and ask the provider. A past date in the planner needs checking; it is not proof of an unpaid bill.

An annual budget is not a bill due today.

The planner adds the annual quotes you enter. Its monthly saving target divides the known total by twelve, rounded up to the next penny. That is a way to set money aside, not a monthly billing option. The upcoming diary only shows the payment dates you have entered within 90 days of the reference date.

Compare a transfer as a complete job.

Ask about the transfer charge, renewal price, required term and any services you need to move. UK domains and generic extensions can have different transfer arrangements. Do not assume a transfer adds a year or moves email, DNS management and forwarding with it. If a domain has expired, contact the registrar promptly rather than relying on a grace period.

Keep the renewal account ready.

Check your contact email, payment method and renewal preferences in the provider account. Protect the account with two-step verification where available. This planner cannot see those settings or renew a name for you.

Useful questions.

Does this find the cheapest domain registrar?

No. It compares your entered ongoing costs, without a live price feed or registrar ranking. Check each provider's current annual renewal quote, including VAT, and any separately billed services.

Can I use it for a free or bundled extra?

There is no need to add a free included service as a paid extra. An explicit £0 quote is accepted. Where a single charge covers a bundle, enter it once and label it clearly so you do not count the same cost twice.

Will it remind me when a payment is coming?

No. The diary is a view of the dates you enter, not a reminder service. Save your downloaded plan if useful, and maintain your own calendar or provider notifications.

What if a price or date is missing?

The planner marks the plan as incomplete where a name or price needs checking. Missing or past payment dates need checking with the provider and make the upcoming list incomplete. They do not stop you estimating annual costs from known quotes.
